The Family Goes Camp Chef!
This summer we purchased a Camp
Chef double burner cooker. Our
family of four enjoys a variety of outdoor activities and our
Camp Chef stove has become one piece of equipment we will always
pack
along! We RV camp Spring, Summer and Fall and this new stove
is such an improvement over the little rinky-dink portable
stove I've
used in the past! How wonderful to have portability AND the
size our family needs to cook for mom, dad and two growing
boys! During
a beach trip my husband even took our oldest son out several
times to teach him how to cook on the stove! What a treat for
me to have
my guys fixing breakfast in the morning! We purchased two of
the two
sided griddles so they cooked bacon and sausage on
the raised
griddle on one side of the grill and pancakes on the flat side
on the other side of the grill.
We went tent camping for a weekend
in the mountains this fall and took our Camp Chef along. Before
this trip we purchased the barbecue
grill box with lid. It was
cold in "them there hills", but our steaks were hot
and delicious and cooked perfectly! It poured down rain the next
morning but not before breakfast got cooked! The
grill and griddles were quick to clean up and stow away in their
bags ....I can't say the same about the tent!! Our sons are involved
in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts and so our Camp Chef has made a few
of their outings also! It is just so easy to move around, use and
clean up. You wouldn't believe all the times we have loaded a
big ol' gas grill in the back of a pick-up truck and had to
tie it down
etc. etc. NO MORE! What an improvement our Camp Chef is and what
versatility! By the way, my Uncle Al turned us on to the Camp
Chef grill on an even earlier camping trip! Now we own one, as
does one
of my cousins and her family of seven!

Cooking with a Dutch oven in the kitchen. What? Dutch oven cooking
in the kitchen? This is one of the best places to use a Dutch oven.
In fact it is where the true Dutch oven was designed to be used.
The kitchen is always available, the oven can provide a constant
heat source and is convenient. Adjust racks so the Dutch oven is
centered. For a true Dutch oven (no legs), no adjustments are necessary.
For a Camp oven, place the legs between the wires of the rack so
the pot sits flat. If adjustment is difficult, place a large cookie
sheet under the legs. Set the temperature to 350 degrees.
Since a Dutch oven will usually cook faster than other cookware,
check meats at least one-half hour before normal cooking time ends.
For baked goods that need to brown, leave the Dutch oven lid off.
Baked goods may be done 10-15 minutes before the end of normal cooking
time.
