Camp Chef Double Goes for a Tumble
I just wanted to state how elated I have been to have my Camp Chef double burner stove. While I have owned it for over 3 years now, I still baby that thing all the time. I wanted to share a close call I had with it.

Last summer, while heading up the mountain in my pick-up with my family to go camping, I hit a huge dip, going a little faster than I should have been. The truck was chuck full of camping and playing equipment and my stove was near the top of the heap. After hitting the bump, I took a second to check inventory in my rear view mirror and all looked fine.

About 20 minutes later we reached our destination. As I unloaded the truck, I decided to get the double burner stove out to start some Dutch oven action. To my horror it was not there!

I got everyone settled and then headed back down the mountain side like a man possessed! I finally reached a point where we had hit the giant rut on the dirt road. I turned off the truck, got out and searched. After nearly five minutes I saw it. Not only had it bounced out of the truck on the rocky dirt road, but it proceeded to tumble about 20 feet down the side of an embankment.

Fortunately, the slope was not too dangerous to climb down. I reached it and brought it back up the hill. It was not connected to the leg extensions nor did it have a carrying case. I was very concerned after such a brutal experience that I would be looking at a bent frame and possibly cracks or breaks as well. After a full and thorough inspection, the only problem I noticed was it had gone from black to nearly all brown from the dirt and grit. I toweled it off and BAM - just like new - no problems at all!

No need to mention that this saved our camp out, but equally as important, I also had my baby back. What a durable product!

I now own a carrying case, and it is the first thing to be loaded in the truck and never again on top!

DISPOSING OF CHARCOAL

A coal bucket can be used to hold hot briquets and ashes until ready for disposal. Make sure it is placed on concrete or some other non-combustible surface. When disposing of hot charcoal, it is best to gradually dump the charcoal into water rather than water onto charcoal. Stir after each addition using a metal shovel. Water dumped onto charcoal can explode and cause injury. After coals and ashes are cooled, they are safe to pour out and are not harmful to the environment. Be sure charcoal is completely cooled as we have heard of fires caused by charcoal that was not properly extinguished.
